Hello to you all
I’ve still been training non–stop since I wrote to you last. I only have two and a half weeks to go until I leave winter in Australia and head to summer in the Northern Hemisphere. YAY
I went to the Winter Race Carnival at Eagle Farm with my sister. We had to get dressed up in “Formal Race Wear” which meant we had to go shopping for outfits and hats – the first hat I’ve ever bought. And I’ve seen a couple of movies this month. There are some great ones around at the moment – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was great!
Lara Carroll – the Australian Individual Medley swimmer – came over from Western Australia to train with our squad for a week this month and so one night all the guys in our squad went out to dinner to the Hog’s Breath Café – that was yum. Another night we went to the movies and saw Click! and another day Lara and I did some serious shopping. So that was a busy week.
My episode on the children’s television show “Toasted TV” has been aired. That was really fun to do...especially the water slide (although, it was cold). The interview in the spa was nice though…warm and bubbly. I had a great time at Wet'n’ Wild that day.
I have been asked to be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the local shire show in two weeks. I’ve also been to a couple of sign–ons at the local Swimming Clubs sign–on days.…and next week I’ll be a guest presenter at the “Pride of Australia” Awards in the city.
After all that, I’ll be joining my Australian Team Mates and we’ll all be heading off on our trip overseas.
I won’t be home for most of August. 2½ weeks until we fly out to Seattle – USA for a staging camp before we head over to Victoria, Canada to compete in the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. Competition starts 16.08.06 and the last day is the 20.08.06. I’m looking forward to that – I had a great and positive time in Montreal, Canada in 2005 and am hoping it will be similar at the Pan Pacs.
Then we fly straight down to Hobart to compete at the Australian Short Course Championships which start on the 25th Aug and go until the 28th Aug. I’m still stressing about the whole summer to winter thing I have at the end of August – BBRRRRRR :)
Well I won’t be writing until I get back home now…Hopefully then I’ll have some exciting news to tell you
Thanks for everything
Wish me luck in Canada and
Bye for now
